Blue Topaz Meaning and Healing Properties
Topaz is a silicate mineral containing aluminum and fluorine. Topaz is usually colorless when pure, but since the mineral can contain any number of chemical impurities, it can also occur in any number of colors.
Usually people associate topaz with a yellowish stone, but it can also come in pink, wine, light green, vermilion brown, or blue. The rarest variety is pink topaz.
Blue topaz is easy to mix up with aquamarine and sapphire, but has its own distinctive physical properties. The meaning associated with blue topaz is also different, though all three stones are usually related to the throat chakra because of their common hue.

Topaz is the November birthstone. Blue topaz is actually quite rare in nature. Usually blue topaz has to be created in a lab by heat treating topaz of a different color.
The word ‘topaz? is likely derived from the Greek word which refers to the ancient name of St. John’s Island in the Red Sea.
A yellow stone was mined on that island in ancient times, though that stone probably wasn’t actually topaz, more likely olivine.
The word may also be derived from the Sanskrit word which means ‘fire’ or the Hebrew word for ‘orange’ (the fruit). In medieval times, ‘topaz’ referred to any yellow stone.
Topaz is mentioned in the Bible in Exodus: And thou shalt set in it settings of stones, even four rows of stones: the first row shall be a sardius, a topaz, and a carbuncle (garnet): this shall be the first row.
Blue Topaz Meaning: Metaphysical Properties of Topaz
In general, topaz is associated with true love and friendship. The meaning of this stone is compassion, empathy, and kindness. Topaz is said to be able to make you more receptive to the feelings of others while protecting you from the emotional weight or damage of the negative emotions you may encounter.
Blue topaz is associated especially with the throat chakra since it shares the same color. This is the chakra of self expression and alignment with the divine. Self-expression is a key component in relationships, so blue topaz is a good stone to wear or use if you have difficulties expressing yourself in your romantic relationships or your platonic friendships.
There are two parts to communicating listening and sharing. Topaz helps you to do both. Other colors of topaz are associated with different chakras in the body and therefore with different meanings.
